The Society is calling all young ASG students to put their creative talent into use.

ASG is proudly sponsoring the Junior Art Award for its third year and we would like to invite Members' children to participate. ASG's Junior Art Award is open to students attending primary school in Australia and are currently in grades Prep to Grade 4.

ASG's Junior Art Award is part of the Young Australian Art Awards, and there are also other art categories that are open to the Junior (Prep to Grade 4), Middle (Grade 5 to Year 8) and Senior (Year 9 to Year 12) age groups. Students can submit artworks in painting, photography, drawing and computer art categories, online.

All pieces are to be original, and the selection panel will review all entries for the Young Australian Art Awards. Entries will be assessed according to the child's age.

The recipient of ASG's Junior Art Award will be contacted and invited to attend an awards ceremony where they will be presented with a trophy. Please note that entrants will only be contacted if they are to be invited to attend the Young Australian Art Awards.

Young Australian Art Awards conditions of entry

  2. Other award categories are open to all Australian students currently attending school in Australia. There are three age categories: Junior (Prep to Grade 4), Middle (Grade 5 to Year 8), and Senior (Year 9 to Year 12); and there are four art categories: drawing, painting, photography and computer art.
  3. Please obtain permission from the student's school in order to enter the Young Australian Art Awards. Please attach the school's details to all entries.
  4. Artwork should be submitted as a digital image online through www.YoungAtArt.com.au. In order to upload the artwork, you will need to register and login online.  We recommend a teacher or parent help the student in submitting their artwork. Please ensure the student's ASG membership number, name, age, grade/year, school name, and postal address is included on each entry.
  5. All entries must be received by 5pm, 1 September 2010 to be eligible for the awards. Entries received after the closing date will automatically be eligible for the following year's awards.

  8. An independent selection panel will select the finalists, with initial judging carried out on the image of the artwork that is submitted through the Young At Art website. Artwork is judged within age groups and is based on: originality in design, quality of work, creativity, and effort shown in artwork. The selection panel's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  9. Once the judging has taken place, finalists will be notified during the end of September by mail, telephone or email and will be invited to attend the Young Australian Art Awards presentation, to be held in Melbourne at the end of the year 2010. Interstate finalists will be flown to Melbourne. Finalists will also be requested to mail their original artwork to assist the judging in the final selection round to select the award recipients. No submission can be judged in the final selection round unless it is accompanied by a signed and dated entry and authority form, which will be sent with initial notification. All submissions will be retained for a period of no more than 12 months for use in promotion and public exhibitions. After this time all artwork will be returned to its owner.
  10. Award recipients will receive a trophy in recognition of their achievement.
