Inside this issue – Early Horizons
Thank you to everyone who responded to our survey. We have put this issue together based on your feedback.
In July 2009, the Council of Australian Governments endorsed Australia’s first ever national strategy for early childhood development. Rhonda Mundy helps us understand the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
The EYLF focuses on linking children with family, culture and place. We share stories from educators on how they introduce children to various cultures. Julia Lambropoulos encourages her students to accept diversity from an early age. Rebecca Hansen builds relationships with the tamariki and their fanau to encourage learning with children.
Narelle Henderson’s Bush Kinder aligns itself to the EYLF through its strong emphasis on play-based learning. And, Radha Babicci successfully introduced the importance of mindfulness and meditation at her centre through simple fun games.
